Ashoka's inscriptions used Sanskrit language
Inscriptions from the times of Ashoka are majorly found on Pillars, Rocks and rock slabs.
These inscriptions were mainly the orders of Ashoka or his thoughts and sayings that he wanted his 'praja' (citizens of his estate) to follow or listen to.
The Inscriptions found are written in Prakrit language.
Somewhere the language used is also said to be Magadhi.
Mostly the inscriptions found in western parts were written in Prakrit language with the use of Kharoshti script.
