The law which can explain the process of recoiling of gun is Newton's Third Law Of Motion i.e Every action has a equal and opposite reaction . When the bullet is fired from the gun , it experiences a force in forward direction(action) as a result the gun exerts a backward force (reaction) on the shoulder.
