Pitcher plant is an insectivorous plant whichtraps and digests insectsto fulfil its requirement ofnitrogenas the soil in which itgrows is poor in nitrogen. It traps insect by:1) the leaf of the pitcher is modified to a pitcher like structure which is filled with liquid which is used to drown the insect.2)The top part of the leaf is modified to a lid which prevents rainwater entering the pitcher.3)The walls of the pitcher towards inside has hairs which directs insect down into the pitcher.
