ECL is about the fastest, and CMOS the lowest power. It is fastest digital logic family. Its greatest disadvantage is greater power dissipation.Hence the speed power factor is very less in ecl. Its fanout is also high but less than cmos.

ECL
ECL logic family is fastest and which has lower dissipation.
- ECL, like other bipolar-only families, has a not insignificant power drain while being the fastest logic family and having the simplest internal structure in contemporary logic families. Due to its signal voltages, it is also incompatible with other logic families.
- It is suggested to create a MOS ternary-logic family with inverters, NOR gates, and NAND gates. Basic memory circuits and ternary arithmetic are designed using these gates.
- The quickest logic currently available is known as emitter-coupled logic (ECL), a family of BJT transistors. ECL operates at fast speeds by using a modest voltage swing and keeping the transistors from reaching saturation.
- (Storage delay time is cut down). The fastest logic now in use is typically referred to as emitter-coupled logic (ECL), a class of BJT-based logic.
