A major step taken by India government in 1986 was enacting a act in favor of consumer, popularily known as Consumer Protection Act 1986. This act was started in order to protect the consumer's rights and interest in India. This act made a provision in order to establish consumer council and consumer Court to settle down the consumer disputes. This act was passed by the assembly in October 1986.
