Ideally, store them in a cool, dark place (such as the fridge) away from sunlight. Keep all veggies as dry as possible in the crisper drawer. Do not wash berries until you eat them to prevent extra moisture. Carefully select your produce before buying it.

Decaying mainly occurs due to the action of sunlight or the action of microorganisms. So to stop them we should stop their processes. The vegetables should be kept in am very cool and dry place away from sunlight. You can consider refrigerator for that purpose. Although there are microorganisms which strive in extreme conditions but they don't live in our common environment. So char refrigerator is the best place to stop decaying.
