Yes, they evaporate, but not in our electric kettle for making tea.

Actually, there are important techniques of coating and deposition in which the material (metals) must be thermally evaporated before deposition. Many different metals can be used in these techniques, such as silver, chrome, nickel, and aluminium. Evaporation process must obviously be conducted in vacuum to prevent any harmful interactions and collision of gas particles with the metal atoms at elevated temperatures.
