Ancient methods of preserving fish included drying, salting, pickling and smoking. All of these techniques are still used today but the more modern techniques of freezing and canning have taken on a large importance.

There are many methods for preserving fishes .

From ancient period drying, smoking, salting, freezing etc are used for preserve fishes for long time in our country .

Drying :-

  • Fishes are mixed with turmeric and little salt .
  • Then they are dried under the sun.

Smoking :-

  • In this fishes are smoked .
  • Fishes are first salted and dried .
  • Then kept on a rod, down fire pieces where only with smoke the fishes are dried .

Salting :-

  • In this fishes are salted and put under the sun to be dried off .

Freezing :-

  • In this large pieces of ice cubes are used.
  • In this ice cubes the fishes are kept .
