Cryptographic method which protects sensitive data such as credit card numbers by encoding and changing information into unreadable text.  

That encoded data could only be decrypted or make readable with a key.  

Two primary types of encryption are symmetric and asymmetric-key .  

Encryption is important for safe and trusted delivery of confidential information.
