Indian subcontinent is enjoying rain from two monsoons.
Southwest (SW) monsoon
Northeast (NE) monsoon
SW comes from Arabian Sea and NE comes from Bay of Bengal.
It is difficult to say which one gets more rain, because few states get more rain by one another few other by other monsoon.
i.e Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarath, parts of TN,AP, TS profits by SW monsoon. Basically which have coast with Arabian sea.
Similarly NE monsoon benefits AP, TN, Odissa, Bengal and you know that these states are bordered to Bay of Bengal.
Reason for high monsoon rains on coastal areas is that water clouds which move from Sea to towards land have more water percentage and mostly they try to pour it off once it reaches land.
The SW monsoon comes in May, June, July season and NE monsoon comes in August, September, October months.
SW monsoon carries more water than NE as SW monsoon covers more sea and so has more water clouds.
