The Red Fort is a prime example of Indo-Islamic architecture in India. It is located in New Delhi and served as the main residence of Mughal emperors until 1856.

The Red Fort was constructed during the rule of emperor Shah Jahan, as the main Fort for his capital. It was made mostly of red sand stone and consists of rows of pavilions, housing the royal apartments. These were connected by water channels or streams. Several beautiful gardens were also set up inside the Fort complex.
