On 8 April 1931 (some historians believe it was November 1830) Emperor Akbar Shah II sent Raja Ram Mohan to England as his ambassador to the court of King William IV to present the case of restrictions placed on his rights. Ram Mohan sailed with his Hindu servants and his adopted son Rajaram Roy.
