well it was not any assembly it was the club.....

The Jacobin club was the most popular and successful political club of France. It derived its name from a former convent of St Jacob in Paris.
The members of Jacobin club were mostly less prosperious sections of the society. This included the shoppkeepers, shoemakers, pastry cooks, watch-makers, printers,
as well as servants and daily-wage workers.
The club was formed due to political climate that mistreated the people of France. This included increase in the direct tax, the taxes charged by the Church and no involvement of people in the governance of the country.
Achievements of the Club:
They planned an insurrection of a large number of Parisians who were angered by the short supplies and high prices of food. On August 10, the members of the club marched the Palace of Tuileries, captured the king and held him as hostage. They then declared that evreyone above the age of 21 were allowed to vote, irrespective of thier wealth. Also, they elected a new assembly called the Convention. Then they abolished slavery and declared France as a republic nation.
