- Amrita Bazar Patrika was a Bengali bilingual publication introduced on 20 February 1868.
- It was established by two brothers namely Sisir and Motilal Gosh in Jessore district, Bengal currently located in southwestern Bangladesh.
- In 1878 when the British introduced the vernacular press act to restrict the criticism against the government in the regional language press. The Bengali bilingual publication, the Amrita Bazar Patrika however did not stop the press from publishing in English thereafter.
- It published on issues related to the Partition of Bengal, the Bengal famine and the nationalist movement. The colonial regime saw this publication as a threat.
