which no is smaller? 5/7 or 2/9

 \frac{5}{7}  =  \frac{5 \times 9}{7 \times 9}  =  \frac{45}{63}
 \frac{2}{9}  =  \frac{2 \times 7}{9 \times 7}  =  \frac{14}{63}
Since 14/63 is smaller, so 2/9 is smaller.

The shortest method to find the exact answer is :-

Just write both the rational numbers and do cross multiplication i. e, multiplying the numerator of one with the denominator of other.....

So, here

(9*5)=45

(7*2)=14

Obviously, 45>14

Now, we will see that in 45, which was the numerator.

Since it was 5 so, The greatest one is 5/7

And hence, smallest one =2/9
