let the no be x.. after adding 4 no.s will be in proportional

then... 4+x,8+x,16+x and 26+x..are proportional...

according to question..

4+x/8+x=16+x/26+x

(4+x)(26+x)=(16+x)(8+x)

now proceed...

the value of x will be the required value...

Let x be the number which should be added.

So, 4+x:8+x::16+x:26+x

(4+x)/(8+x)=(16+x)/(26+x)

(4+x)(26+x)=(8+x)(16+x)

x²+30x+104=x²+24x+128

so, 30x-24x=128-104

6x=24

x=4

Therefore, 4 is the number which should be added.
