Answer :

  • 3 numbers should be added to each of the number 1 , 9 , 13 and 46 so that the resulting number would be in proportion

Given that :

  • Which number should be added to each of the number 1,9,13 and 45 so that the resulting number would be in proportion

Solution :

Given , 1 , 9 , 13 and 15 are proportional numbers so,

  • Let the number should be added to each number be x

Then,

  • First number be 1 + x
  • Second number be 9 + x
  • Third number be 13 + x
  • Fourth number be 45 + x

According to question , Given that the resulting number would be in proportion so we can write like this here ,

➞ 1 + x : 9 + x : 13 + x : 45 + x

We know that

Extreme property of proportion and means where the product of extreme equal to product of mean so,

➞ (1 + x) × (9 + x) = (13 + x) × (45 + x)

Now , solving the problem we get,

➞ (1 + x) × (9 + x) = (13 + x) × (55 + x)

➞ 1 × 45 + 1x + 45x + x² = 9 × 13 + 9x + 13x + x²

➞ 45 + 46x = 117 + 22x

➞ 46x - 22x = 45 -117

➞ 24x = 72

➞ x = 72/24

➞ x = 3

Hence , 3 numbers should be added to each of the number 1 , 9 , 13 and 46 so that the resulting number would be in proportion
