which number should be subtracted from 12,16 and 21 so that regulate number are continued proportion​

I think it's 4, because subtraction:-

12-4 = 8,

16-4 = 12,

21-4 = 17,

clearly, now continued 8,12,17

now, see first see difference of 8 and 12 that is 4, again, see difference of 12 and 17 that is 5. so, it have continued proportion. like this next no. will be 23....
