Iron from food that we eat, is absorbed in the human small intestines. This absorption takes place in an area called the Duodenum from where it is transferred for further processing and distribution. The kidney then filters and reabsorbs iron, completing the process.

The digestive system in humans consist of the salivary glands, pancreas, liver, gall bladder and kidneys, which help to break down food, separate the nutrients and absorb it in a form that can be used by the human body.
