A book that has no net force acting on it and is sitting on a table is said to be in static equilibrium. Because in static equilibrium, there is not net force acting on it.

Example:

Static equilibrium:

              An object is said to be in static equilibrium, if there is not unbalanced external force act on it.

Answer:

A cruising car that has no net force  acting on it is said to be in static equilibrium

Explanation:

An object is said to be in static equilibrium if all the forces i.e sideways, upwards and downward forces- acting on it adds up to zero.

According to Newtons second law of motion;

          force = mass x acceleration

                   F= ma

for a body to be in static equilibrium either the mass of the body will amount to zero or the acceleration of the body amounts to zero, so that by their multiplication the amount of the force applied is zero. i.e

              if f= ma

      if m= 0

            then f= 0 x a

                      =>0

if f= ma

if a=0

 then f= m x 0

             =>0

Therefore a cruising car that has no net force  acting on it is said to be in static equilibrium since it has mass and acceleration of which after cruising , the acceleration will amount to zero therefore the product of its mass and its acceleration at the final point will be  zero. i.e

                    f = ma

                      =m x 0

                       =0 N

The other objects are not in static equilibrium since theyhave a net force acting on them while at rest.
