In some plasmolysed bacterial cells, this space remained empty though these cells are connected with othercells through protoplasmic extensions. The space between the cell wall and the shrunken protoplast in theplasmolysed cell is occupied by the HYPERTONIC SOLUTION IN WHICH THE CELL IS KEPT.
