Tunicate Chordate Subphylum

Explanation:

  • The larval stage of the tunicate has all the highlights normal for chordates, pharyngeal cuts and a post-anal tail,a dorsal empty string and a notochord
  • In the grown-up arrange the notochord, nerve rope, and tail disappear
  • Urochordata (tunicates) and Cephalochordata (lancelets) are invertebrates because they lack a backone
  • Larval tunicates (Urochordata) gangs each of the four structures that group chordates, yet grown-up tunicates hold just pharyngeal slits
  • The larva metamorphoses into a grown-up, the tail resorbs, giving food stores to the developing animal. Free-swimming tunicates transform without attachment
