Activity to show that air exerts pressure is as follows -

• Required materials :

- Plastic Straw

- Glass

- Water

• At first, completely fill the glass with water and the water level should reach the upper edge of the glass.

• The take the straw and hold it in the height of 2 centimetres from the water level in the glass.

• Holding the straw in that position,blow air through the straw.

• Observations :

- The water is moving in the spot where the air was blown.

- If the blown air is very strong then the water will fall from the glass.

• Conclusion :

The air does exert pressure. If the air was unable to extert pressure then stationary condition of the water was observed.
