Extinction of a particular animal or any species occurs when they have stopped breeding, died or are no longer alive anywhere in the earth.
The Tasmania tiger was a carnivorous marsupial which is now considered to be extinct. It is believed to be extinct from more than 80 years. This animal looked mostly like a canine because of similar selective pressures.
The reasons of its extinction are:-

- Diseases
The last living Tasmania tiger was seen in Hobart zoo, which died in 1936, in that year itself it was officially declared as extinct.
Some of the characteristics of the Tasmania tiger are:-
- It had about 47 teeth with very powerful jaws.
- It had brownish-yellow to its grey fur with some black stripes on its back (lower back), shoulders and tail.
- It has a stiff tail with short legs.
