Solving a quadratic equation an easy way is by factorising the equation.

  • A quadratic equation is an equation that has an unknown variable "x" and other known variables in the following format - f(x) = ax² + bx + c.
  • Here a, b, c are known variables and they are more than 0.

Example of factorization

Let a, b, c be 4, 6, 2

f(x) = 4 {x}^{2}  + 6x + 2

f(x) = 4 {x}^{2}  + 4x + 2x + 2

f(x) = 4x(x + 1) + 2(x + 1)

f(x) = (x + 1) (4x + 2)

either,

x + 1 = 0

x =  - 1

or,

4x + 2 = 0

4x =  - 2

x =  -  \frac{1}{2}

Therefore, two factors of f(x) are either -1 or -1/2.
