Tri atomic: CaCl_2, H_2O.

Tetra atomic: NH_3, PCl_3.

  • The molecules which contain three atoms are called triatomic molecules.
  • The molecules which contain four atoms are called tetratomic molecules.
  • The triatomic molecules are CaCl_2, H_2O. Because calcium chloride contains one Ca and two chlorine atoms and water contains two hydrogens and one oxygen atom.
  • The tetratomic molecules are NH_3, PCl_3. Because ammonia contains one N and three H atoms and phosphorus trichloride contains one P and three chlorine atoms.
