Self-promotion seeks to show oneself as a professional, willing, knowledgeable and experienced human. The promoting of oneself can be accomplished by face-to - face chats, forums , social media , public discourses or even speech, etiquette, posture, or dressing. Self-promotion is a natural trend that we want others to feel that we have great qualities such as intellectual ability and talent.

Explanation:

  • Self-promotion is part of an incredibly general yet omnipresent motivation of man: to be viewed favorably by others. In the case of self-promotion, many people want to be seen by others as someone who is competent. Not unexpectedly, though, people usually only promote themselves in public and impress people  such as superiors at work
  • There are times when a little self-promotion is essential & also acceptable, particularly while competing for resources that scarce, such as an interview where one is competing for a job with several other applicants. However, studies have shown that self-promotion in majority cases could backfire with regard to social likability, especially when it comes across as obnoxious & boastful to others.
