Given:
triangle ABC,
AC = 7.4 cm
and AB = 5 cm
To find:
Which of the following can be the length of BC required to construct the triangle ABC such that
AC = 7.4 cm and AB = 5 cm?
Solution:
In a Triangle,
- The sum of the length of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the third side.
- by using the above property, we get,
side 1(AB) + side 2(BC) > side 3(AC)
( by substituting above values in given equation)
==> 5 + BC > 7.4
==> BC > 7.4 - 5
==> BC> 2.4
BC will be greater than 2.4
