Answer:Since colour, form and the presence of nectar are all designed to attract insects, if you’re not using insects for pollination, then it’s a waste of resources to evolve complex shapes, bright colours or nectar production. Also, since wind and/or water need loose pollen, pollen in these species tends not to be sticky since it doesn’t need to get picked up on insect legs or bodies. Insects take pollen from flower to flower so the process is fairly efficient. Wind pollination on the other hand is not very efficient - there is a low, random chance that the wind will drift the pollen to a recipient flower. So, in general, you need to make more pollen for wind dispersal and it must be dry. When many trees produce pollen you can see clouds of the stuff being blown off by the wind.
