CaC2
has Carbide ion in it (C2) 2-
Its structure is a C atom triple bonded to another C atom, just as if its two H atoms short of ethyne.
That's why answer is a ;)

Complete reaction
CAC2 + 2 H2O = C2H2 + CA(OH)2
You can easily see the similarlies between Carbide ion and ethyne
