For determining which devices consumes more electric energy, we calculate it's number of units using the below formula:

Number of units = Power × Time

1️⃣ For bulb

Number of units = 60 × 8

⇒ Number of units = 480 Wh

2️⃣ For speaker

Number of units = Power × Time

⇒ Number of units = 1000 × 2

⇒ Number of units = 2000 Wh

3️⃣ For television

Number of units = Power × Time

⇒ Number of units = 500 × 5

⇒ Number of units = 2500 Wh

4️⃣ For electric cooker

Number of units = Power × Time

⇒ Number of units = 800 × 1

⇒ Number of units = 800 Wh

Comparing all 4 values,

We observe that television consumes maximum number of units.

So, Television consumes maximum Electric energy.

Given :  1️⃣ 60 W bulb used for 8 hours

2️⃣ 1000 W speaker used for 2 hours

3️⃣ 500 W television used for 5 hours

4️⃣ 800 W electric cooker used for 1 hour.

To Find :  which devices consumes more electric energy in given options

Solution:

Energy = Power x time

60 W bulb used for 8 hours

Energy consumed  = 60 x  8  = 480 Wh   = 0.48 kWh

1000 W speaker used for 2 hours

Energy consumed  =1000 x  2  = 2000 Wh   = 2 kWh

500 W television used for 5 hours

Energy consumed  =500 x  5  = 2500 Wh   = 2.5 kWh

800 W electric cooker used for 1 hour.

Energy consumed  =800 x  1  = 800 Wh   = 0.8 kWh

2.5  kWh is maximum

hence 500 W television used for 5 hours consumes more electric energy
