Explanation:

Resultant forces give us the maximum & minimum value of two combined entities which in this case is force. So, we find the the maximum and minimum possible values for force from the given set of force.

Maximum Resultant Force;-

                  Fmax = Entity 1 + Entity 2

                  Fmax = 2N + 6N

                 Fmax = 8N

Minimum Resultant Force;-

                  Fmin = Larger Entity - Smaller Entity

                  Fmin = 6N - 2N

                  Fmin = 4N

Since, 5N falls in the range of 4N  to 8N. Hence, the forces in the option (c) i.e. 2N and 6N can give the resultant 5N.
