- Quit India movement also called August Kranti was started by Mahatma Gandhi in August 1942 to end the British rule.
- Mahatma Gandhi gave a call 'Do or Die' during his speech in August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai from where the Quit India Movement was started.
- Bhagat Singh along with Sukhdev and Chandra Shekhar Azad established Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) in 1928. Bhagat Singh with Sukhdev assassinated Saunders in 1928 which is called as Lahore Conspiracy Case. Later in March 1931 both of them were sentenced to death.
- Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a social reformer who established the Brahmo Samaj in 1828.
