Distilled Water is a bad conductor of electricity.
- For any solid or liquid to conduct electricity, there has to be presence of free charge carriers that are able to to transfer electrons from the negative terminal to the positive terminal of the circuit.
However, distilled water is a specially synthesised water which is devoid of any minerals or ions or charge carriers.
- Absence of charge carriers means that the liquid does not produce any electrolyte and hence will never be able to conduct electricity.
This means that distilled water will act like an electric insulator.
However, always remember that :
- Tap water contain a lot of impurities and minerals which act as charge carriers and help in conduction of electricity.
Hope It Helps.
