solution:-

=> x - 4/x = 5

=> (x × x)/x - 4x/x = 5

=> (x² - 4x)/x = 5

multiply both side by x

=> x² - 4x = 5x

=> x² - 4x - 5x = 0

=> x² - 9x = 0

=> x ( x - 9 ) = 0

=> x = 0 or x - 9 = 0

but we know by question x ≠ 0

hence, x - 9 = 0

=> x = 9
