When two or more independent clauses are there in a sentence and are attached inappropriately, that sentence is referred to as a run-on sentence.
- These run-on sentences can be categorized into two parts one is comma splices and the other is fused.
- The fused sentences occur when there are no punctuation marks and to separate the two independent clauses there are no coordinating conjunctions.
- The comma splice sentences occur when there is a comma between two independent clauses.
- In spite of these defects, the run-on sentences are used by authors and poets for repeating something important.
