Neurons do not have a centrosome

  • Centrosomes are small structures composed of microtubules that play a very important role during cell division.
  • In eukaryotes, they are made up of two centrioles (9+2 arrangement). Neurons lack these structures and it is also why they do not divide.
  • Neurons however do have the presence of ribosomes, chromosomes, and lysosomes.

Thus the organelle, (Option b) Centrosome is absent in a neuron.
