You should always try to think what the author is trying to make you feel.
This is important as the overall literary process is not automatic.
It is a careful planning by the author, his own life and mind views, his own expectations and his own reflection of the life around.
Weaving story patterns that are both abstract and concrete are thus a part of the whole thing.
