HCl is not present in the pancreatic juice secreted by the pancreas.

  • Pancreatic juice contains lipase, trypsinogen, and many other pancreatic enzymes such as chymotrypsinogen, procarboxypeptidase, amylase, and nuclease in an inactive stage which are activated by enterokinase secreted by the intestine.

  • On the other hand HCl is secreted by parietal or oxyntic cells of the stomach. HCl helps in maintaining the acidic pH necessary for the activity of enzymes in the stomach.
