Kelp belongs to brown algae groups.

So characteristics of brown algae are :

  • Chlorophyll a and c are major photosynthetic pigments.
  • Cell wall is covered with gelatinous coating of algin which is a hydrocolloid material.
  • Its gametes are biflagellate and thus they are motile
  • Food is stored in the form of laminarin and mannitol.

So the third option doesn't match to the given characteristics and hence Option 3 is the answer.
