  • As we know, that power is always equal to voltage consumed times the current applied i.e, P = V/I (where P = power, V = voltage, I = current applied).........(1)
  • As per the definition of ohm's law, voltage equals to current applied the resistance produced i.e, V =IR or I = V/R..........(2)
  • ∴ By substituting the equation 2 in 1. we get,
  • P = V*V/R
  • P = V^{2}R
  • Therefore, the correct formula of power should be P = V^{2}R.
