'Removing the supply of carbon dioxide' is not a method of extinguishing fire.
- A fire requires three essential factors to burn successfully- abundant supply of oxygen, a minimum ignition temperature and fuel. By removing any one of these factors, we can prevent a fire from burning.
- Supply of carbon dioxide to a fire displaces oxygen and hence suffocates the fire. This eventually causes the fire to be extinguished. Removal of CO2 will only help the fire burn more.
- Ignition temperature is the minimum temperature required by a fuel to burn. Under this temperature, the fuel can't burn and hence even the burning fire is extinguished below this temperature.
- By removing fuel and oxygen, which are essential components for fire to burn, we can easily extinguish a fire.
