• Protein synthesis occurs in cells from mRNA. The process of protein synthesis is called translation.
• Initiation is the first step in protein synthesis. In this step, complex forms where mRNA binds. The start codon binds in this step.
• The second step is elongation, where the polypeptide chain increases by translation of mRNA to protein.
• The third step is termination which happens when the stop codon is read. The translation stops. and polypeptides are released. The complex also dissociates.
• The DNA is coded into mRNA, during the process known as transcription. This process is followed by the translation.
• The production of protein requires DNA providing genetic code, corresponding amino acids as per the sequence of the protein, and the three RNAs namely rRNA, mRNA and tRNA. Ribosomes are another essential requirement for protein formation.
