Enzymes are biological catalysts that are made up of proteins.Since they are made up of proteins, they are proteinaceous in nature. They are catalysts and therefore increase the speed of biochemical reactions. Each enzyme have a specific function for which they act as biological catalysts.Hence they are specific in nature.

Enzymes acts as biological catalysts in biochemical reactions.They are not used up.They are reusable.

Thus they are not used up in reactions.
