The Correct Answer is:

 \large{ \underline{ \underline{ \rm{ \pink{Increasing \: the \: mineral \: content \: of \: soil}}}}}

✏Option B

Reason:

The ploughing is the process of loosening of soil before sowing of seeds. The primary purpose of ploughing process is to turn over the soil or humus layer, so that the nutrients can come over the surface. The other purposes are:

  • It helps in the aeration of soil, that helps the soil to retain the air inside the soil. This air is needed for the roots to respire. It is also needed for the microorganisms living in soil.
  • The ploughing also enhances the water retention property of soil. The small particles can retain more water than the lumps of soil.
  • Due to the above reasons, we can say that ploughing promotes the growth of microorganisms in soil. Microbes are very important because they helps in decomposing the waste into useful nutrients.
  • The ploughing helps in the uprooting of the weeds which are the unwanted plants who compete with main crop for basic requirements like light, water etc. Hence, they removed by ploughing.

⚠️ But Ploughing doesn't increses the mineral content of soil, it just helps to turn over the lower layers of soil containing minerals because the nutrient in upper layer may be used by the previous crop. Hence, our answer is Option B) Increase mineral content in soil.

More about Ploughing

The ploughing is generally done a by a plough which is either manually done by farmers or attached to the ox. They pull the plough which helps in ploughing without human labour. This helps in increasing the aeration, water retention, and turning over the fertile soil of soil.

✏ Nowadays the microorganisms are flourishing from the top layer of the soil because of the less ploughed soil but this is not a good sign for the crop fields. Hence, ploughing is vital processes in the production of crops.
