"Unsaturated fatty acids have a higher melting point than saturated fatty acids", is not True. ( Option - d)

  • Saturated fatty acids have long chains and perfectly stack with each other forming a non-flexible rigid kind of structure leading to a strong bonding and higher melting point.
  • Unsaturated fatty acids consist of double bonds which leads to the introduction of a kink and improper arrangement of fatty acids and loose packing leading to a lower melting point as compared to saturated fatty acids.
  • The Melting point is the temperature at which the solid state of a substance converts to its liquid state.
