Given question -:

Which of the following is the value of k if one root of the quadratic equations

 {x}^{2}  + k x  - 8

we have given on root that is x = -4

let's try to solve the question

 =  >  {x}^{2}  + kx - 8 = 0

  =  >  { - 4}^{2}  + ( - 4)k  - 8 = 0

 =  > 16 - 4k - 8 = 0

 =  > 8 - 4k = 0

 =  >  - 4k =  - 8

 =  > k =  \frac{8}{4}

k = 2

Hence the value of k = 2
