y = 0.2x  go through origin

Given:

  • Equations of line
  • x + y = 1
  • y = 0.2x
  • y = 2
  • y = 2x + 1

To Find:

  • Linear equations having its graph going through origin

Solution:

  • Origin coordinates are (0 , 0)
  • Any point lying on a line satisfy the equation of the line
  • Hence (0 , 0) will satisfy the equation of line which goes through origin

Substitute x = 0 and check if y = 0 or not ?

Step 1:

x + y = 1

=> 0 + y = 1

=> y = 1

as y ≠ 0 when x = 0

Hence, x+y=1  does not go through origin

Step 2:

y = 0.2x

=> y = 0.2(0)

=> y = 0

as y = 0 when x = 0

Hence, y = 0.2x  go through origin

Step 3:

y=2

as y ≠ 0   for any value of x

Hence,  y=2  does not go through origin

Step 4:

y=2x+1

=> y = 2(0) + 1

=> y = 1

as y ≠ 0 when x = 0

Hence, y=2x+1  does not go through origin

y = 0.2x  go through origin
