Some of the molecules deviate from octet rule when the central atom contains more/less than 8 electrons in its outer (valence) shell.

Usually the group 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 elements like Sulphur , Phosphorus , Halogens can form expanded octet compounds.
On the other hand , the elements of group 13 like Barium can form octet deficient compounds.
