Question:

Which of the following numbers would have digit 6 at

unit place?

(1) 19^2 (ii) 24^2 (iii 25^2

(iv) 13^2

Answer:

(i) 19^2: Unit's place digit = 9

∴ 19^2 would not have unit's digit as 6.

(ii) 24^2: Unit's place digit = 4

∴ 24^2 would have unit's digit as 6.

(iii) 25^2 Unit's place digit = 5

∴ 25^2 would not have 6 as unit's place.

(iv) 13^2: Unit place digit = 9

∴ 13^2 would not have 6 as unit's place.

We know that when a square number ends in 6, the number whose square will have either 4 or 6 in unit’s place.
